Everyone has a guilty pleasure. At the moment, mine is knitting. I know, I am not a 70-year-old woman who has no life and knits sweaters all day, but I do enjoy it. I took up knitting over winter break and have been working on a scarf ever since. Granted, I have had little time to actually work on it thanks to something called college, school work, and activities take over my life, but when I do get the chance, I really love to knit. It is a sort of stress reliever because you repeat the same pattern and motion over and over again for hours. When I was first learning to knit over winter break it took me two days to learn, which seems like no time at all, but think about it me sitting down each day for about eight or nine hours trying to learn - it was definitely frustrating. I finally figured it out and started on a maroon scarf, which right now, unfortunately, will only fit some sort of small animal. Although, when I finish, I can probably use it as a beach towel because I made it extra, extra wide. It is almost the width of my body - I am ridiculous.
We all have those hobbies that calm us down and envelop us for so long that we do not even realize the hours that fly by. That is what knitting does to me. I bought more yarn to start on another scarf but I have yet to finish my first one, which I am very upset about because the yarn I bought is multi-colored and it reminds me of fall, so I need to have it finished by the fall. Yes, I am a grandma, but hey, I enjoy it. Let me know if you want a scarf for Christmas this year - I would be happy to knit one for you.
